Haeresis was literally started from ground zero. Nothingness. The void. Prior to 2014, I had worked many different jobs from many different industries. Remember Blockbuster Video and Circuit City? Worked there. Remember when energy was deregulated and strangers knocked on your door asking if you were happy with your electricity? Did that. Waiting tables? Check. Health insurance call center? Yup. Valet cars downtown on the weekends? Sure did. Successful though I was, fulfilled I was not… until I began working at a hosting company.

You see, prior to that, sometime between Circuit City and deregulated energy house calls, I had a brief spat as a “website salesman”. A college buddy of mine was the developer and I was the salesman. Long story short, that didn’t last long, and it was due in large part to my ignorance of web design and development as a whole. Landing the job at a hosting company seemed almost like a full circle journey, and through it, my passion for web design was ignited.

Being a salesman and then later an actual web designer, I’ve had first hand experience seeing the headaches that can come from needing a website. Even if you’re a web designer by profession, you’ll likely feel a justified pull to spend time doing activities that make immediate revenue, and making your own website, as wise as it is, can be time consuming and soul sucking. If you are reading this, it’s highly likely you’ve felt the tug of this dementor yourself.

In my early days, I struggled to find something that I was good at but also fulfilled me, and web design was a Godsend. Being able to pay that forward by alleviating headaches and time constraints, it’s a humbling experience that I cherish with each opportunity I’m given.
