Our approach to Photography services
Imagery makes and breaks graphic projects. Whether it’s for use in a website, a flyer, a brochure, the result is always the same. High quality imagery conveys a sense of care and consideration, and poor quality imagery conveys a sense of carelessness.
It has and always will be a staple of our design philosophy here at Haeresis: we will use crisp, high quality photography that is tailor made for the space it will occupy, or we won’t use photography at all.
UNDERSTANDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography has been around for over 150 years as we know it. Rumor has it, possibly 500 years earlier than that. Regardless of when it was conceived, there’s no denying it’s impact on our existence.
By capturing light on a durable medium, humans began to exert a sort of control over time itself. Being able to capture the smile of a loved one, or the tears of an admired and respected individual allows us an avenue of existence that goes far beyond our actual location in time and space.
As fallible as our minds can be at times, photography has helped us carry the burden of those we can no longer lay our eyes upon, and as technology has improved in the last century and a half, the burden has eased more and more.

In much the same way that a mechanic is useful in changing the oil in your car, a photographer provides that same sort of help. Of course it’s possible to take your own photos, but without experience in what to look for beyond simply pointing and clicking, it’s all too easy to be left with a sub-par product that you have to disseminate to potential clients. It only makes sense to put your best foot forward.
A typical photo shoot is scheduled in 3 hour blocks. That is usually plenty of time to shoot whatever is needed in regards to most digital design projects, be it a brochure or a website. A thorough discovery session at the beginning of the project will help dodge any unnecessary hurdles.
A typical 3 hour block costs $300. However, as with all of our endeavors, a well done discovery session can help find any fat to trim so that we can stay within your desired budget.
We shoot with Nikon cameras.
We use Photoshop for post production.
Usually, upon completion of a project, the client receives a curated selection of the best images taken during the shoot. These images will be high resolution and will be in .jpeg format.
If source files are taken into consideration during the discovery phase, the cost will be reflected in the quote and the deliverables will include the aforementioned format as well as the RAW files taken directly from the DLSR camera.
